Reviewers in
JRooz OET Baguio are in it for the gold, as all OET test-takers are.
However, this will not come easily.
Take, for
example, the OET Speaking Task.
This task is
divided into three parts and lasts for 20 minutes and involves a role-play
conversation between the test-taker and the interlocutor. As a test-taker, you
need to be able to understand the scenario presented and adapt your speech
manner appropriately. But this will be difficult if you don’t have your
pronunciation down pat.
So, to get
that out of the way, here are five tips that can help your pronunciation.

PRONUNCIATION TIPS
1. Listen to Yourself
For you to correct any of
your flaws, you need to hear yourself first. This will be quite difficult to do
on your own, and not all of us can afford our speech instructor. This can
easily be remedied by recording yourself. Your mobile phone can come in handy
as most have a recording application installed by default. Try reading a short
write-up while recording yourself. Playing it back, you need to be honest with
yourself and listen to it, identifying all your flaws. You can also have others
listen to it, to have a second opinion.
2. Master the Basics
You always begin at the core
skills. At our OET training center, we believe that once you get these
core skills perfect and the rest will come naturally. This usually involves
mastering how the vowels and some of the consonants are pronounced. Some find
this hard, depending on where they came and if their dialect affects with their
English pronunciation. However, do remember that you are not being evaluated to
sound like a native English-speaker. As long as you have the basics right,
you’re good to go.
3. Exercise and Practice
Pronunciation is a physical
act. Your mouth, tongue, and lips need to get used to specific actions
repeatedly. This can be done by practicing speech exercises regularly. Head
down to JRooz OET Baguio and train with our top instructors.
Master these
1, 2, and 3 tips, and you’re well on your way to acing the OET Speaking Task
and a step closer to your dream career.
