CALM DOWN! Use These 5 Ways to Avoid Feeling Stressed

Have you ever felt so pressured because of your OET course that you just breakdown? If yes, then that means you need to make your brain your ally and not a foe during class. In most cases, when you encounter unexpected circumstances or questions, your emotions and mind will spin out of control, making you feel uncomfortable. The decision you make at that moment may either improve the situation or make it worse.

To help you keep calm and make the right decisions, here are some tips that you may try.

CALM DOWN! Use These 5 Ways to Avoid Feeling Stressed | JRooz OET

Learn to be with discomfort
This tip is quite tricky because you cannot do this overnight. Since you need to learn this step by step, one thing you can do is to become more familiar with feeling pressured and learning to push through it. You could also try timing yourself when answering questions, instead of studying your cue cards.

Think positively
When under pressure, try distracting your brain with positive thoughts and encouraging words. By doing so, you are preventing your mind from creating a gloomy scenario in your brain. It can also shift your attention from feeling pressured to a “stress-free” zone in your brain, making you feel more confident in your OET course class.

Use mindfulness
Sometimes, over-analyzing things cause stress. So, stop over-analyzing stuff and try the method of mindfulness. In being mindful, you can be aware of what you are doing and not be overwhelmed by things going around you. It can help you regain a sense of calmness and avoid being caught by your anxiety.

Be aware of your breathing
It is essential to breathe when feeling anxious or pressured. Breathing provides oxygen in the brain; if not done often, may make you feel more anxious. The appropriate way to breathe is by inhaling deeply through your nose and exhaling slowly.

Control your emotions
Controling your emotions begins by developing a deeper understanding of your feelings and learning to handle your passions. Succeeding in controlling your feelings does not mean that you no longer feel anything. Instead, you will have more control of your emotions, and problems will not overwhelm you.

Feeling nervous during your practice interviews and mock tests of your OET center is entirely reasonable. However, how you deal with it is a different story.
