Don’t confine
your test preparations to your review center for OET
classroom. Conduct your own training sessions at home. Here are some tips to
ensure productivity during your study-binge.
1.
Get your blood pumping
Take a brisk walk around your neighborhood, go
through your exercise routine, or put on a catchy song and dance like no one is
watching. Get your blood pumping before your session. Not only will it jolt
your senses awake, but it’ll also make you more receptive to learning new
information.
2.
Take a cold shower
Like exercise, a cold shower will also knock
you awake and make you more ready for any post-bath activities. Emphasis on
“cold.” Taking a hot shower or a warm bath are no-nos since they’ll relax your
muscles and make you drowsy. Not feeling up for a shower? Wash your face with
cold water instead.
3.
Eat a light meal
Don’t conduct OET study sessions on an empty
or a full stomach. The former will keep you from focusing on your lessons while
the latter will make you lethargic. So, eat a light meal before you hit the
books.
4.
Prepare your study
space
Remove everything that doesn’t have anything
to do with your OET training. If you have anything that you need later like a
review module or a writing activity, refrain from placing it on your desk. Keep
it in its designated spot—in your bag, drawer, or bookshelf—to avoid cluttering
your space.
5.
Eliminate distractions
Let your friends and family know of your
study-binge so they’ll know not to disturb you. Keep your mobile device as
well.
6.
Use a study checklist
Keeping a checklist of everything you need to
accomplish during your session will help you sustain your study drive. It’ll
also help you manage your time well. Cross out or put a check on items that
you’ve completed. You’ll be surprised by the sense of accomplishment you’ll
feel about even the smallest of task achievements.
