OET Training Distractions and How to Minimize Them

Do you want to boost your chances of OET success? Make the most out of your OET training period. Don’t let the distractions below interfere with your test preparations. Read on to find out how to minimize them.

OET Training

  • Your Responsibilities

Your commitments, especially those that are important or time-bound, can keep you from concentrating on your OET review. If you’re currently employed, for instance, you can’t put your workload on the back burner. You can’t compromise your work performance for your test preparations and vice versa. The same applies if you’re still studying in college.

Minimize this distraction by establishing your priorities. List down all your commitments and rank them based on their urgency and significance. Include your OET review in the list. Then, plot them out on a timetable. It’ll help you manage your responsibilities and exam preparations efficiently.

  • Your family and friends
The level of distraction they can cause depends on two things: your relationship with them and if you share space with them. Your parents, for instance, may ask you to do something for them from time to time, and your friends may ask you to hang out with them. Make sure these instances don’t interfere with your OET training.

Minimize this distraction by letting them know of your OET review.  That way, they’ll know not to approach you and to keep down noise during your study sessions. You can also relocate your study space. Conduct your review sessions someplace study-conducive like the library.
  • Your mobile devices
Your mobile devices are designed to cater to all your needs and whims. They let you chat with your friends, play mobile games, access your social media accounts, listen to your favorite songs, and more, which is why it’s not surprising that they’re some of the most distracting things you can own.

Minimize this distraction by hiding or turning off your mobile devices. Before your OET review sessions, turn off or put your mobile devices on silent mode.
Keep them out of sight to minimize the temptation to use them. Let your friends and family know of your study schedule as well so they’ll know not to contact you during those times.

Maximize your OET preparation period. Enroll in an OET review center, conduct your own study sessions, practice your communicative skills and minimize these study distractions. Want to learn more tips and tricks that can help you ace the high-stakes exam? Visit our OET blog here.
